Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has appointed Wilson Hartnell as its public relations agency in Ireland, working across consumer, sports sponsorship and corporate relations after a competitive pitch process.

Etihad Airways offers flights to over 100 destinations throughout the world from Ireland via its Abu Dhabi hub. In operation since 2003, the airline first arrived in Ireland in July 2007 and is currently a proud sponsor of the GAA Hurling All Ireland Senior Championship, the Etihad SkyLine at Croke Park and GAAGO, the GAA and RTÉ’s online streaming service for Gaelic Games outside of Ireland. As well as the airline’s flights, the airline operates a premium lounge in Terminal 2 from the airport and a Line Maintenance Centre from Dublin.

Managing Director at Wilson Hartnell, Brian Bell commented: ‘We are delighted with this appointment and look forward to working with the team at Etihad Airways in Ireland to build on the presence and reputation of the airline in the Irish market.’

Etihad Airways is part of the Etihad Aviation Group, which is continuing to diversify from a single airline into a larger travel and aviation company. The group has several business streams which are expanding including cargo, MRO (maintenance, repair and operations), catering, ground handling, as well as the frequent flier programme, Etihad Guest.

The airline’s range of equity partners, including Jet Airways and Virgin Australia, ensure a larger global reach into markets such as India and Australia, on top of the 117 passenger destinations it serves directly.

Beatrice Cosgrove, General Manager for Ireland at Etihad Airways, said: “Ireland has been a strong performer on the Etihad Airways route network experiencing ongoing growth since launching nearly nine years ago. The services we offer enable the Irish economy and passengers to link with some of Ireland’s major markets in the Middle East, India, South East Asia and Australia via the hub operation in Abu Dhabi.

“2016 will be another important year as Dublin hosts the IATA AGM in June and we continue our sponsorship programmes in the Irish market.”

Wilson Hartnell is one of Ireland’s longest established and largest award-winning communications agencies representing a wide range of practices including Consumer, Corporate & Public Affairs, Healthcare, Lifestyle and Sport.
